Three nerds with MBA's decided to apply financial trading tools to the eCommerce market. ShadowBid allows people to place a limit order, what we call a "bid," on any new item on Amazon. When the price of the item drops to the bid, ShadowBid facilitates the purchase on the user's behalf. We are NOT a price-drop notification system. ShadowBid actually executes the purchase, often while our users are at work, playing with their kids, or fast asleep. We have found that people do not have time to continuously return to a retailer to see if the price has dropped. For the most part, these notifications fall short of anything useful, as they hit while customers are at work for 8 hours, or asleep at night. Customers that can't wait will pay a premium, but those that can wait often miss out on the flash sale and have no effective tool to help them purchase at a price they are willing to pay.
