Diggyy is a social search and discovery engine

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

What is Diggyy? Diggyy is a social search and discovery engine that makes knowledge accessible. Users on Diggyy have the ability to search like they would on traditional search engines but results are returned from social networks. Diggyy would help spark a conversation on social networks around your search query, that way you learn more from your search query. It helps give an in-depth understanding of a search query or puts it in context. Users can also follow other users and see their public searches and public activities on their live feeds. The public activities on Diggyy increases knowledge acquisition and discovery on Diggyy. The social web is a repository of content and information; People interacting daily, sharing ideas and asking questions. We believe this content and information, if leveraged properly, would help bridge the gap between converting data and information to knowledge. We believe that thoughts, discussions and debates articulated in public social spaces have boundless value and near limitless application. How does Diggyy work? Let’s take a quick example of Lucy searching on Diggyy and compare it to a potential result from a traditional search engine. Lucy searched for “Abenomics” after hearing the word for the first time on her traditional search engine. Results are returned from a list of websites and Lucy has to make sense of the information on her own. In some cases, Lucy goes on her social networks to ask questions about the search she just made to get a clearer context (if she didn’t fully get it). On Diggyy, results are returned from social networks and there is also a possibility that some of the pages returned from the traditional search engine results have been shared on social networks. This way the Lucy gets to see social media conversations around her search query and could engage people to expand her understanding of the subject. This is one of Diggyy’s main goals; to help the conversion of data and information to knowledge through search and social networks. With Diggyy’s plethora of filters, users could further streamline their searches to view results from a particular location and time. Also, Lucy friend’s would see what she searched for if she made her search public and her friends could be inclined to explore the topic and discuss it with Lucy. Users would definitely find Diggyy useful in more ways than one but this example highlights the “basic” functionality of Diggyy in beta.
