SnapWord

Learning vocabulary by taking photos

Sunday, March 1, 2015

SnapWord is a mobile app for learning vocabulary in new languages by just taking photos. To learn the vocabulary of an object in a foreign language, simply take a photo and the app will tell you! The app now supports Japanese, Korean, French, German, Chinese (Cantonese), Chinese (Putonghua), English, Spanish, Russian, and Icelandic. This function is achieved by establishing an object recognition system using deep learning technology and a training dataset with over millions of photos. This app is a useful tool to assist language teaching and learning in schools and language centers. It is also useful for tourists to explore a foreign country by learning new words as they are travelling.
