Social Fashion Marketplace for Women Clothing

StyleAlley.com.au is an Australian social fashion marketplace that encourages buying, swapping and selling locally. There's a light-hearted problem that plagues every girl in the country - our closet is never big enough, yet we always want to buy more clothes! StyleAlley solves the problem of an overflowing closet by enabling girls to trade their unwanted clothing with other fashionistas who share the same size and style in a quick and easy way. It all started when our co-founder Wendy went on a journey with The Living Room on Channel 10 with Peter Walsh, the master de-clutterer. He shook his head at the huge amount of clothes and shoes that she didn’t fit or never wore, many still with tags on them. She ended up throwing away a mountain of clothes which was as tall as half her height! It was then that Wendy realised how much waste happens due to shopping habits and love for fashion, and there had to be an easier way to go about it. Being a prominent Youtube fashion blogger, with one of the top 50 YouTube channels in Australia, Wendy also receives a lot of feedback from her community, and one common theme that kept coming up was girls searching for a place to easily sell clothes. eBay took too long and was also quite costly, especially if it didn't sell. Facebook groups were often very sporadic and your listings get buried into the social feed. Also some girls even started their own closet sale Instagram accounts, but again it was not designed for selling, plus it was a lot of work to maintain and to build a following there. StyleAlley was started with an aim to fill this gap - by combining the marketplace qualities of eBay with the social aspects of Facebook, we strive to become an engaging and fun platform that is designed for trading from ground up. We envisioned building a community where like-minded girls who share the same size, fashion style and location can share their closets with each other over and over again. Once you love someone's style and their clothes fit you perfectly, there's no reason not to buy from them again - it's like having access to the closets of multiple friends in your local area. For sellers, this also means building a loyal customer base easily and being able to update them with any of your new items for sale, making the selling process faster and more efficient as you stay on the platform. StyleAlley's vision is to become Australia's number one social destination for women fashion.
