BuckMeUp

"Merit-based" freelance marketplace for small business

Saturday, December 13, 2014

BuckMeUp is a “merit-priced” online marketplace where small businesses and startups can go to get awesome freelance services for everything they need to help start and grow their businesses. What makes BuckMeUp unique from other freelance sites is that services on BuckMeUp are priced by merit. This means that the prices that our sellers charge are directly related to the quality of work they produce. For buyers, this ensures that when you buy a service, you are getting exactly or more than what you pay for. So how do you really know you are getting the best value when you buy on BuckMeUp? We use a unique pricing and review engine to reward sellers who produce quality work by adjusting the price of their listings every time they get a positive review. This in turn provides buyers with more dependable reviews, value-based pricing and the ability to find the best work for their budget. Since sellers’ listings are priced based on the reviews left by previous buyers, buyers can be sure that they’re always going to get what they pay for, or more. How does it work? Once a service is completed and the work delivered, we ask the buyer to judge the delivered work against what they believe it’s actually worth. Depending on how the seller did, buyers can either 1. ‘Buck up’ the price. This increases the price of the listing and means the buyer loved the work and thought it was worth more than what they paid. 2. Leave the price the same. This means that they buyer felt as though the service was correctly priced. 3. ‘Buck down’ the price. This decreases the price of the listing and means the buyer felt the listing was priced higher than what it was worth.Prices are automatically adjusted to match the current value of the seller’s work using Buckmeup’s proprietary pricing algorithm; several different metrics are analyzed (and we’re adding more all the time) to ensure potentially fake or biased reviews do not affect the price. Each time you purchase a service, you are paying what previous buyers have said the work is worth. Eventually after several purchases and reviews, a listing will reach a market price deemed appropriate by past purchasers. In other words, buyers will have indicated that the price of a listing is perfect for the quality. At BuckMeUp, we truly want to disrupt the freelance industry. For buyers, we aim to provide proven value and certainty in every purchase. For sellers, we want to see fair pricing, and put an end to spec work.
